Crawling ALREADY!!!

Zac was always pretty early in all of his milestones.  He crawled at right around 8 months and that seemed to be the average time for most babies that we knew.  Tyler is 6 and half months old and has begun to crawl ALREADY!  I'm honestly not ready for two mobile children in the house!  He's already found something to get into.  He crawls right over to our back door and plays with the wood blinds!  I'm afraid he's going to break them and they are fastened to the bottom of the door so I can't even put them up and out of the way!  I feel like all I do all day is say "NO"!  I now have to complete that sentence and say either "No Zac", "No Hennessy", or now "No Tyler" or none of them know who I'm yelling at!

And to make sure that doesn't feel left out:  I thought it was cute to see him drinking out of a Starbucks cup!  (It's just hot chocolate)!

From the mouth of babes...

Tom and I had just given the boys a bath last night.  Tyler was drinking a bottle and Zac was reading a story when the doorbell rang.  Tom got up to answer the door and it was a couple of guys from Orkin.  Oddly enough, we've had some trouble off and on with ants in the kitchen so Tom invited them in and listened to their pitch about a one year plan to help us out (we just wanted a cheap one time spot treatment).
Zac being the social butterfly that he is, had to go running to the foyer to see who it was.  While Tom was talking to the Orkin guys, Zac yells back to me in the living room: "Hey Tracy!  Wanna come see the men, they're really friendly!"
I just burst out laughing!

Anticipation!

For Mother's Day this year I just kept telling Tom that I wanted a break and maybe a pedicure.  So, the boys got me a gift card to Adriatica Day Spa just down the road.  It's a really nice place and the gift card is for a deep tissue massage, a spa manicure and a spa pedicure!  I scheduled my spa visit for tomorrow afternoon and I am SO looking forward to it!  There's nothing better than some quiet reflection time at the spa for a Mom!
So thank you to Zac and Tyler for my gift and a special thank you to Tom for helping them shop for the exact thing that Mommy needed!

To My Moms...

The above pictures were taken a few days after Zac was born in April 2005.  How awesome for three generations to be together!  It reminds me of how much I miss my Grandmother and how much I KNOW that my mom misses her mom - especially today but every single other day as well.  I am so thankful that my mom was there for the birth of both of my boys.  What an amazing experience to be able to share with her - especially since we live so far away.  I am thankful that we get to see each other as often as we do despite the many miles between us and I wish that we could see each other more often!
You can't really begin to understand all that a mother does and sacrifices and the depth of their love until you become a mother yourself.
Thank you Mom for all of the love, support and sacrifices that you have made and continue to make!  I love and appreciate you more than words can say!

I am extra blessed here as well because I have an amazing Mother-in-law!  I always hear people complaining about their Mother-in-laws but I totally lucked out and have no complaints!  She is a very giving, selfless person and has helped us out more times than I can count!

I know how very lucky I am to have two amazing women as role models in my life and I hope that I can do even half as well as they both have with my two beautiful boys!

Joy of a boy!

We had taken Tyler's clothes off in preparation for his bath and sat him down on the carpet to gather Zac up too and when we looked back, the above picture is what we found!  At first we weren't sure what the line on the carpet was and then we realized that it was his pee stream!  He looks pretty proud of himself too!

6 Month Stats

Tyler had his 6 month well baby visit yesterday.
He weighs 19 pounds 7 ounces (75th percentile)
And he is 27 inches (68th)

It's funny because I looked back at Zac's baby book to see where he was at at 6 months.  He was a very chubby baby but he was only 17 pounds 4 ounces and 25 inches!  We thought Zac was SO big but so far, Tyler is even bigger!

He also got three shots and a liquid vaccine for rotavirus.  It was almost like he remembered the shots from back at 3 months because he was fighting while they swabbed his legs down!  He calmed right down after the pokes but didn't sleep so great the rest of the day.  He was pretty fussy again because his legs hurt and Mommy was pretty exhausted!  Luckily he slept through the night though!  Wooo hooo!

Tyler is 6 Months Old

Tyler turned 6 months old last Tuesday and even though he has a sinus infection, he's as happy as ever!
He has started to sit up as you can see and somehow he even goes from the "crawling" position into sitting up!  He's rocking back and forth and wants SO badly to crawl to be able to get into everything that Zac plays with!  Should be an interesting couple of months!

Joys of Motherhood

The kids and I have been sick for almost 2 weeks now.  I have felt like I might be getting a sinus infection.  The kids both have nasty coughs, runny noses and on and off fevers.  Finally I gave in and called the Dr. yesterday and they wanted to see them.  Taking two sick kids to the Dr. is no easy feat!  Luckily it was late enough in the afternoon that Tom left work a little early and met me there.  Both kids wanted to be held so it was a good thing he was able to make it!
Diagnosis:  Zac has a fever and sinus infection.  Tyler has croup, a fever and sinus infection!
So...chances are I also have a sinus infection.  The boys are on antibiotics now and I need to get to my Dr. for some.
The worst part though is that Tom is leaving town today for work and coming back tomorrow!  I will have two sick kids to care for all day and night alone while I am sick too!  And somehow I've got to get myself to the Dr. with the two of them in tow!
Oh the joys of being a mom...

Welcome Hennessy!

We have a new addition to the family!  Yes, I know I had written that we had put a deposit down a boxer puppy for later this fall but we got rethinking the whole "puppy" thing and I began to look into Legacy Boxer Rescue here in Dallas.  We were approved to adopt and we met a few different boxers that were in foster care.  We actually met a 9 week old puppy and although cute, really showed us that that would be FAR too much work right now with the boys being so young and needy themselves.
We met this 7 month old boxer boy who looked eerily like Hurricane and fell in love with him!  He is already housebroken and very good with the kids.  We officially adopted him last night and named him Hennessy.  He is already 52 pounds and has feet like a horse so I think he's going to be a BIG boy!  He seems to really enjoy our crazy family!

Grandma Pam

So in the effort of fairness, here is an entry about Grandma Pam! She was feeling left out since Grandma Gail and Grandpa Gene had recently had entries and she wanted one too! Zac made sure I could create a funny good one!

She got him up from his nap today and he tends to do his poopy business at that time because he's still refusing to use the potty for that! Sure enough, he had pooped so Grandma Pam was cleaning him all up. She was wiping underneath his "stuff" and he said "Grandma, do you like my balls"? She was silent for a moment trying to process what she had just heard and then she noticed that Zac was looking in the direction of his bedroom wall. His room is sports themed so we hung a whole bunch of different sports ball up there and that was actually what he was referring to at a very inopportune time!
